“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.”
Romans 5:6 (NIV)
When I consider Calvary, my heart trembles with awe and gratitude. I was not worthy. I was not seeking Him. I was not even able to lift myself from the pit of sin — and still, He came. The Son of God saw my helplessness and didn’t wait for me to get better, cleaner, or stronger. He came while I was still powerless. Still ungodly. Still a sinner. That’s when the plan of salvation was activated — not because I earned it, but because of love — pure, sacrificial, undeserved agape love.
At the exact (right) moment — not a second too late or a moment too early — Christ gave Himself for us. That’s the beauty of divine timing. When we had nothing to offer, Jesus offered everything. The cross was not a backup plan. It was always The Plan. The blood-stained wood of Calvary stands as an eternal signpost of how far God was willing to go to rescue us.
And if today you don’t know Jesus personally — He’s near. He’s waiting. Come close. He’s not distant or angry. He’s the Saviour who bled for you while you were still broken. And if you’re a believer whose walk has grown cold or routine, let this be your wake-up call. Don’t stay on the surface. Dive deep. Let your heart burn again with the fire of His love. Choose a faith that costs you something. Let your life be a loud, unwavering declaration: “I belong to Jesus!”
We’ve heard of heroes who died for noble causes. We read stories of martyrs and soldiers who laid down their lives for friends or ideals. But who dies for the wicked? Who sacrifices for the undeserving? Christ did. That’s what sets His love apart. It’s not just that He died — it’s that He died for sinners, for rebels, for us.
So today, may we come before the cross, not as a symbol of fear or regret, but boldly knowing that love was demonstrated for us. Let His love fill our hearts. We are loved with everlasting love. Calvary proves it. Christ’s scars declare it. Eternal life is ours — not because we were good, but because He is good and He is God.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for dying in my place. Thank You for seeing me when I was unworthy and still choosing me. Help me walk in the freedom You purchased with Your blood. Let my life reflect Your love, and may I never forget the wonder of the cross. Amen.
